Toys (1992)
Nominated for the Academy Award for art direction/set decoration and costume design. Fun. Toys, toys, and toys. The story goes that a toy factory is bequeathed to a military man who turns it around and starts to manufacture weapons. His brother, younger at heart, is appalled and tries to take over to put the fun back into it. This was a long time pet project for Levinson. The art created for this movie is breath taking, but there’s so much happening all at the same time that in parts it turns into a jumbled mess of stimulus. (Written and directed by Barry Levinson)
