Thief (1981)

The lead is an expert jewel thief named Frank. After getting out of a long haul in prison, he joins up with the mob to pull one last job and then retire. After the heist, he finds that leaving the Mafia proves to be more difficult than anticipated. This film, like the rest of Mann’s projects, holds very true to authentic trade techniques. The thieving skills and practices shown in the film were accurate as Mann used real "former" jewel thieves as technical advisors. But the reason we like it is that James Caan is the star, AND he has a key to the Playboy Mansion. James we salute you. Hef, is our invite in the mail? (Written and directed by Michael Mann)
