The Insider (1999)
Nominated for the Academy Award for cinematography, editing, sound, screenplay based on previous material, director, actor, and picture. This is the story of a former cigarette executive as he struggles to expose the incriminating truth about the tobacco industry. Greed and money bury him and ruin his life as he works to do the right thing. The film was inspired from an article in "Vanity Fair" by the name of "The Man Who Knew Too Much". It is unfortunate that while this incredible film earned seven Academy Award nominations, it was robbed from every one. Reportably, both Mann and screenwriter Eric Roth gave up smoking while making this movie. (Written and directed by Michael Mann)
