Splash (1984)
Nominated for the Academy Award for screenplay written directly for the screen. Cute flick about a man who spends his life dreaming of a mermaid he saw as a kid. As an adult, logic kicks in and he passes off her memory as just another childhood fantasy. But when the fantasy turns into a real live mermaid at his house, both his life and New York City are turned upside down. One of only a small handful of PG films to contain nudity.
