Gus Van Sant is a truly inspired writer and director. Being openly gay, a lot of his films deal with homosexual issues. If you are the type of person that is uncomfortable with homosexual themes or you don't like to see a lot of drug use; his early films might challenge you. If you are an open person who enjoys a well-done movie, you're in for a treat.
