Good Will Hunting (1997)

Won the Academy Award for screenplay written directly for the screen and supporting actor. Nominated for editing, score, song, director, supporting actress, actor and picture. Such a great film. The story is about a man's misuse of potential and the people that try to get it out of him, whether he wants it or not. Just a very touching, very sweet, very smart movie. Nice to see Van Sant given his props with an Academy Award nomination. This is also the film that established Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as screenwriters. From their success in this film they started Project Greenlight; a program to help undiscovered screenwriters get a step up in Hollywood. Very nice, indeed. (Directed by Gus Van Sant)
