Far and Away (1992)
A period piece starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in their first movie as a married couple. Beginning in Ireland, the couple meets and immediately dislikes each other. Inadvertently, they both end up heading off to America together in search of new lives.
In the harsh new land, they find the need to depend on each other for survival and soon that dependency turns to love. Though many people dog this film, we here at The Gods of Filmmaking enjoyed it very much. And as a side note, look closely in the market for a man selling fifty starred American flags. In 1892, when the film is set, the flag only carried forty-four stars. Doh! (Story written and directed by Ron Howard)
