Enemy of the State (1998)
This movie's previews gave the film little to no justice. After seeing about a thousand commercials promoting it, my mind was made up not to see it. It just didn't look very good. But on an unsuccessful hunt at Blockbuster one night, we were stuck with either that or Paulie, the talking parrot. So we went with this one, and damn were we wrong.
This movie is absolutely fantastic. It follows the problems that fall upon a man when he is inadvertently slipped some very incriminating evidence involving very powerful people. He is hunted down like a fugitive using some of the most high tech of modern technology. All in all, very entertaining. This movie has many subtle and a few obvious references to Francis Ford Coppola’s 1974 film, The Conversation, also starring Gene Hackman. Both films deal with the loss of privacy with further advances in technology. (Directed by Tony Scott)
