Dead Poets Society (1989)
Won the Academy Award for screenplay written directly for the screen. Nominated for actor, director, and picture. The "Dead Poets Society" is an underground group in a New England school. The students are lead by their ambitious English teacher who teaches them about life and growing up. Very touching film dealing with friendship and maturation. The film was shot chronologically to the way it was written; a technique rarely used in filmmaking. Weir did this in effort to portray the growing bond in friendship between the boys. (Directed by Peter Weir)
