Crimson Tide (1995)

Nominated for the Academy Award for sound effects, editing, and sound. This film is a wonderful example of man vs. man film drama. A message is sent to a nuclear equipped submarine on the status for an attack on the USSR, but only partially comes through. One man, the submarine's captain, believes that it is an authorization to launch. The other man, the ship's XO, insists they wait for a confirmation. The two build up small armies of the vessel's men and a miniature war breaks out. Watch for a little more Tarantino style dialog as he did some uncredited work on the script. (Directed by Tony Scott)
