Bugsy (1991)
Won the Academy Award for art direction/set decoration and costume design. Nominated for cinematography, original score, and screenplay written directly for the screen, director, actor, supporting actor, supporting actor, and picture. The story of how Las Vegas was started. Bugsy was a New York gangster on his way to Los Angeles, but ended up in Nevada. While there he saw an old run down casino and an idea was born. After word gets back home about his success in the desert, all hell breaks loose when everyone wants to get their dirty fingers in on the profits. The real life Las Vegas hotel, The Flamingo, is of Bugsy’s creation. (Directed by Barry Levinson)
