A Few Good Men (1992)
Nominated for the Academy Award for editing, sound, supporting actor, and picture. A good script almost always attracts a big cast and casts don't get much bigger than this. The film is a military courtroom drama that focuses around an incident in Cuba where a Marine is killed. The blame moves up the ranks until reaching the man who is ultimately in charge. The conflict between the colonel and the lead defense lawyer is movie magic. The film was written by Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin came up with the idea for the story after his sister, a military lawyer, told him of a similar case that she was involved with. Sorkin wrote the story into a Broadway play and later into the movie. The success of the film launched a decent screenwriting career for him. (Directed by Rob Reiner)
